Gas tank and oil tank progress
True that…. wheel
Rear wheel building 101
Put together my rear wheel for the 1969 build. Didn’t take long, most of the work was building the new hub up. I had to take the new hub to the lathe to chamfer the threads. Harley likes to peen them over and getting them started is a bitch unless you chamfer the edge. Anyway, I still have to true it up and I will probably do that tonight while the missus reads and I stare at bad TV…..

getting the old wheels guts out… and build the hub.

Lacing the wheel is easy if you have the old one to look at…..

Just follow the pattern…..

Done.
Motor is done…

69 Frame progress
So the 69IH motor is rebuilt, so now on to the frame. I have a unmolested 1969 frame that goes with the engine, but I also have a 1966 frame that has a weld-on hard tail that was done kinda half-assed. So I’m keeping the 69 frame so if I or the next owner want to go stock later it can be done. I had to heat the frame and pound the backbone down, then weld and grind, weld and grind till it looked clean.

Then I sandblasted it and primer’d the sucker….

Then a coat of dark purple…

Next clear, then the oil tank gets silver flake then the same dark purple over top…..
